The Return of The Scientific Fly Angler Blog (sort of...)

Coulee Region Trout Unlimited (CRTU) president Jason Freund (me!) wrote a blog and some posts of that blog will slowly make their way back to the internet on the CRTU page. It was my COVID project - remember those days? It was a source of entertainment for me and others. But eventually, it began to resemble work and I have enough work between the paying job and the non-paying job, that of a TU chapter president.

I don't plan on writing anything new - at least not on any sort of schedule. Many of the posts were focused on the Driftless Area, and those will be some of the first that will be online again. We may have some CRTU highlights and new blog posts on occasion, but mostly, we'll roll out some of the more popular posts about the Driftless Area and the Coulee Region.

We hope this drives some attention to our website and what CRTU does - which is quite a bit here in the Heart of the Driftless. So give us a follow, share these posts on your chapter's or your personal social media, and let's see where this goes.

We can only do things like supporting the restoration of a Brook Trout stream because of donors.

Yes, this is an attempt at driving website clicks with the hope that it draws more volunteer and financial support for our chapter. I have described CRTU as resource rich - we have plentiful streams, maybe the densest collection of spring creeks in the world - but resources poor; we are a small, rural chapter. However, we draw a lot of anglers from outside our chapter's geographic area.

Be looking for volunteer activities and ways you can participate in and support CRTU activities. The easiest way to do so is to sign up for our email list, which you can do at the bottom of our home page. We send emails not much more than once a month.

We are pretty proud of what our little chapter has done and will continue to do. We are an entirely volunteer organization that relies upon volunteers and their financial support. For more information about ways to support CRTU, please click the link below.

Thank you Jason for shedding light on the great work of CRTU! Our chapter may be small, but our efforts are making differences! One of our greatest needs are volunteers- please consider giving us a hand if you can - too few carry this responsibility currently, and it can actually be a great way to contribute to our efforts. Oh, and did I mention it’s also fun! Hit up our email couleeregiontu@gmail.com and let us know how you would like to help!
