I figured I would do a Driftless Dozen as a conversation piece. These are my choices - at least when I wrote the article. What are yours?

This is the author's favorite fly. It is quick and easy to tie, durable, and it simply works! Hans Weilenmann's CDC and Elk is a two material fly - CDC and deer hair.

My favorite fishes are sculpin, other than maybe Brook Trout. I will persuade you of their "coolness" - and share some fly patterns.

These are my 5 hatches for the Driftless Area - Grannom caddis, BWO mayfly, crane flies, Hydropsyche caddis, and winter midges and stones.
